About the artist:
The artists of the week are Heather Anacker and Krista Feld. Anacker and Feld are a collaborative group for the BFA show at the California State University of Long Beach. They work with different types of fiber to create their masterpieces. Anacker and Feld’s goal is for their audience to feel the artwork rather than just simply looking at it for several seconds. Both artists show a wide variety of art pieces. They show their personal space for inspiration, materials used, the process of creating, and final products.

Formal analysis:
Overall, each art piece in the Dwelling Gallery has its own unique style. There are so many different types of art shown in the gallery and they each have their own meaningful backstory to it. I can see all the art pieces are a dull color. There wasn’t anything with bright colors that stood out. All the art pieces had different textures and were made of different materials. The art pieces in the gallery were also very simple. Simple meaning that there wasn’t an overwhelming number of things to look at. There was like a centerpiece/focus of each part of the gallery. In the beginning, Anacker and Feld said they wanted their audience to connect to the gallery. The simplicity was able to make the audience focus and each piece and connect to it.

Content analysis:
Heather Anacker and Krista Feld showed that art is everywhere and that is a huge part of their lives. Throughout Dwelling Gallery, it shows the process of making art. It starts from their personal space where they get their inspirations. Then they show the different types of materials they used, and materials people don’t often use. There are many types of tools that were displayed in the gallery. A lot of these tools aren’t used in the modern-day anymore. There is a part of the gallery where it shows the process of making their art pieces. Lastly, Anacker and Feld showed their final products. It is interesting to see the different factors and phases to make a complete art piece. Overall, their gallery shows the different unique materials people don’t use and the time it takes to create these art pieces. They also show how art has become part of their life.

Synthesis
I find it really motivating to see the different phases of creating an art piece. I am especially inspired by the amount of time they put into the Dwelling Gallery and the commitment they have. Seeing that they include their dining style in the gallery has shown how much art has become part of their life. I like their purpose and goal of having their audience connect to their gallery. Although taking off your shoes may seem like a hassle, but it can be worth the time. It has inspired me to try using different types of material for art. Instead of using paint and brushed, sewing, dying, and ceramics can all be a new experience to try. Overall, I am inspired to connect more with the art pieces I make. It may take a long time and a lot of practice, but it will be worth the time and effort.
